Yesterday afternoon some visitors came in to help our
corporation. Chantel Johnston and Mr.
Kuhn entered our room with some valuable information. Chantel who works at SeaCom as a digital
designer, worked with the marketing and media people. Mr. Kuhn who works at Seimen with heating and
cooling, helped the LSS group.
Tionna David needed help with editing our theme song,
but Chantel fixed our problem! Our theme
song is now completed. She also helped the marketing and media group with
digital designing for one of our advertisements.
Mr. Kuhn assisted the LSS group with figuring out the
heating and cooling system. The group
had to brainstorm what systems would work and what wouldn’t.

Colony
Member Selection

A very large amount of work has been achieved in the
colony member selection group. We have
already made a script for a broadcast that will act as an advertisement to get
people to join the Mars Walkers! The
broadcast will be aired on BlogSpot.
The group decided that we would create our own members
to discover Mars. Out of 16 people that
were created, we decided on a total of 6 crew members to send to the red
planet. 3 men and 3 women between the
ages of 18 and 35 were selected. We will
be creating their own profiles with real pictures and all of their information.

3D Me!

The 3D printer has arrived!
Just yesterday, Dr. Carroll and a group of Clarkson students came in to
set up the 3D printer and to help all of the corporations. Now all of the teams
can print out 3D objects. Whether they
want to use those objects as part of the robot or objects for the mission
mat. All that is required to do, is to
get the measurements of whatever you want to make, and then you plug the
measurements in to the computer. Then
after its done printing…’’POOF’’, you have a 3D object.
We have also been working in the groups that I talked about
in yesterday’s article, and we have finally decided on our missions. Our robot will be designed to complete 4
missions. The tasks include; collecting
water crystals, plowing and lifting rocks, planting and helping with
hydroponics and testing Mars’s soil.

The Wonderful Works of Google Drive
By: Rylie Gray
By: Rylie Gray
Yesterday our corporation learned how to upload information to Google Drive. Google Drive is a place where our team can log on and share our ideas and what we have been working on in our jobs. We practiced on how to upload to Google Drive and how we can access shared information. Our team now knows how to upload data that we have collected from our jobs, and hopefully it could lead us to a successful corporation.
In addition to working with Google Drive, we also split up into groups to work on other valuable information. One of the groups had to discuss the colony member selection, another had to discuss the missions and another group had to do some extra research. Today we will start off in these groups and hopefully get it all completed!

The First Steps

As the Mars Walkers take their first steps into the project, some deadlines are set. The mission mat design need to be complete by this Thursday (May 21ST). To meet this deadline we have to research, A LOT! Some things that need to be researched are, the terrain and where to land on Mars. The key to a successful corporation, is to have research. So some people in our corporation set out to search the web for information.
Besides the research that needs to be done, our corporation also has to finalize our missions for our robot. We are allowed to have 3 to 10 missions. Our team has already created a big list of task ideas, but it needs to be decided on which task we will be using.
